Surbhi Snowball

Labor for Flinders

Surbhi Snowball is breath of fresh air. Her voice is clear and strong. As a young mother, she wants the best possible future for her family, her community, her nation. Surbhi knows that this bright future depends on the election of an Australian Labor Party Federal government.

As a member of a Labor government, Surbhi is committed to action on

Climate Change – Labor has a detailed plan to cut carbon emissions by 43% by 2030. Labor’s vision is to unite all Australians, mobilising workers, industry, farmers, businesses, scientists and researchers to mitigate the existential threat that is climate change. Under a Labor government, Australia will become an international renewable energy superpower. This will generate 604,000 jobs by 2030.

Health –Successive Coalition governments have sought to dismantle Medicare, favouring a user pays system. The pandemic not only exposed the Morrison government’s incompetence in relation to the vaccination roll out and quarantine facilities; its refusal to fund free COVID rapid antigen tests (RATs) was a stark reminder to all Australians that for a coalition government, wealth is the key determinant of a person’s health and wellbeing. This is not good enough. Labor established Medicare and remains committed to the notion of free universal health care.

Integrity – Australia’s international reputation has been tarnished by the actions the Morrison government. Belligerence has been used when diplomacy was required. Deceit, sleight of hand and untrustworthiness have been the hallmarks of the Morrison government’s time in office. Australia deserves better. Labor will respect our international treaties and relationships and seek to restore our integrity. At home too, Labor will seek to unite rather than divide, to include rather than marginalise, and to govern for all Australians, not just the privileged.

Families – Labor understands the needs of Australian families. A Labor government will establish universal affordable childcare and ensure older Australians are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve in their later years.
